From Fires to Families! 🐈
Courtesy of Randy Friedman, Ventura County Animal Services
The recent Mountain Fire brought devastating losses to homes and wildlife, but for the pets caught in its path, there’s good news. All 44 dogs and 35 cats evacuated to the Ventura County Animal Shelter have been reunited with their owners. Among them was Phoenix, a severely burned calico cat who received extensive care and has now found a loving forever home.
The fire also displaced other animals, including horses, chickens, and ducks, temporarily sheltered by the county. While all have been returned to their families, the shelter remains at 120% capacity, with dozens of new animals arriving daily.
If you’ve been considering adding a furry or feathered friend to your family, now is a great time to adopt. From cats and dogs to bunnies and chickens, there are many animals in need of homes. Check out the below website for more information about the adoption process and available pets:

Raiders Bounce Back 🏀
The Moorpark Raiders men’s basketball team is back in action and bringing home the hardware! After a tough five-game losing streak, the Raiders flipped the script at the Grossmont Tournament, claiming the championship in electrifying fashion.
They kicked things off with a commanding 79-62 win over Copper Mountain, followed by a dominant 75-52 victory against Porterville. But the real drama came in the final—a double-overtime thriller against #8-ranked San Diego City, where the Raiders emerged victorious, 93-82.
Shoutout to DaShaun Warren, the tournament MVP, and Kenji Cooper, who earned a spot on the All-Tournament team. Congrats to the Raiders for their grit, determination, and well-earned championship! Keep that momentum rolling, fellas!
