Mud, Paint, and Compromise 🔫

Ambush Paintball, housed on Moorpark’s former Egg City site, just scored a 10-year permit extension and the green light to host mud-run events, despite concerns from neighboring farmers. On September 24, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the new permit, which expands Ambush's operating area, daily capacity (from 250 to 450), and adds mud-runs for three weekends annually.

The approval wasn’t without friction. Local farmers, like John Frye, voiced concerns over noise, stray paintballs, and traffic disruptions. They argue that previous agreements to keep the peace haven’t been honored. In response, the county scaled back planned quarterly inspections, opting for spot checks based on complaints instead.

Ambush Paintball, managed by Warped Paintball LLC, aims to keep activities controlled and noise low, following county noise guidelines and maintaining a 100-foot buffer zone to contain paintballs. The county sees this as a win-win for both adventure-seekers and farmers, balancing Ambush’s growth with neighborly compromise.

City Hall is Back in Businesses! 🏛️

Last week we covered City Hall’s relocation and temporary closing. Today I’m happy to report that City Hall is officially back in business!

For now, City Council and commission meetings will continue at the Moorpark Civic Center until a new council chamber at the Science Drive site is completed early next year. This relocation is all part of the Civic Center Master Plan, approved in 2020, which includes an upcoming $23 million library and a future City Hall on the existing site.

With this interim move, City Hall operations will be streamlined under one roof, bringing city departments together to better serve Moorpark residents and businesses. Mayor Chris Enegren calls it “a source of pride” for the city—a fresh start for City Hall and, yes, farewell to those legendary (and leaky) office trailers!

Moorpark’s Athlete of the Week

Huge shoutout to Moorpark High School’s very own Wyatt Davidson on becoming The Ventura Orthopedics Athlete of the Week!!!

The junior exploded with 272 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries, plus a 33-yard touchdown catch, leading the Musketeers to a 63-40 victory over Buena last Friday and securing second place in the Channel League. Moorpark (8-2) enters the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs as the No. 3 seed and will host Foothill in a first-round showdown this Friday night.
