Parks Getting an Upgrade!

Brighter nights and greener parks are coming your way! The Moorpark City Council just approved an $87,500 lighting upgrade for eight local parks, swapping out old fixtures for energy-efficient LED lights. Funded by a sustainability grant, this project will boost safety, cut energy costs, and shrink the city’s carbon footprint.

The upgrades include 70 new LED fixtures across Campus Canyon, Miller, Peach Hill, College View, Mammoth, Mountain Meadows, and Glenwood parks—plus six new light poles at Miller and Glenwood. These improvements will slash energy use by 67,963 kWh a year, which is like taking 10 cars off the road or planting 1,213 trees!

With a projected $14,400 in annual savings and a payback period of just over five years, this is a win-win for the city and the environment. Let there be (better) light!

Take a Trip around the World!

The Moorpark Friends of the Library invite you to an Afternoon of International Dance & Culture on Saturday, March 15, at 2 PM at the High Street Arts Center. This lively event will feature music and dance performances from across the globe, including classical guitar by Michael Gullo, Bollywood magic from Bollywood Beyondancing, and the high-energy moves of Megill & Company, The Gypsydancers, and O’Shaughnessy Academy of Irish Dance.

The Raiders Recap

Athlete Spotlight - Kylie Kolkowski

It was a rollercoaster week for the Raiders! Women’s Basketball continued their reign, stretching their win streak to 15 with a victory over Allan Hancock—just one more win will secure them the WSC North title outright! Meanwhile, Men’s Basketball took a tough loss, their first since mid-January.

On the mats, Moorpark hosted its first-ever Women’s Wrestling Tri-Dual Meet! Though the team had to forfeit some matches, standout performances from Lily Bossoletti, Emily Hernandez, and Ali Nielsen proved the Raiders are building something special.

Over on the diamond, Raider Baseball had a Jekyll-and-Hyde week, dropping one game 16-2 but erupting for 20 runs in another. And in volleyball, the Men’s team rebounded from a loss to sweep Miramar 3-0.

More action ahead this week—can Women’s Basketball clinch the title? Stay tuned!
