Water Rate Increase? 💧

Moorpark water customers might see their bills go up in 2025, with a proposed 9.5% rate hike on the table. The increase, driven by rising costs from the city’s water supplier, Calleguas Municipal Water District, will be discussed at a public hearing on December 10 at Simi Valley City Hall.

Waterworks District 1, serving 36,625 residents, cites fixed operational costs and reduced water usage from recent rains as reasons for the hike. If approved, residential customers could see their monthly bills increase by $27 on average, while agricultural users face more significant jumps.

For example, the base monthly charge for a typical household meter would rise from $16 to $17.60, and water usage rates would also climb depending on consumption tiers. Agricultural rates could more than double, with higher costs for larger meters and higher usage.

Even with the increase, District 1’s rates remain mid-range compared to neighboring areas. Public input is welcome at the December hearing. Prepare for what might be a pricier splash in 2025!

The holiday magic is in full swing at Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark with Christmas on the Farm, running from November 29 to December 24, 2024 (closing at noon on Christmas Eve). Whether you're seeking festive fun, a fresh Christmas tree, or family traditions, this is the spot to be!

• Family Fun: Interactive displays, whimsical pathways, and surprises for all ages.

• Photo Ops: Capture magical moments under twinkling trees and glowing backdrops.

• Festive Cheer: Enjoy seasonal treats, music, and holiday vibes.

MC Raiders Shine with Postseason Honors! 🏈

Moorpark College athletes continue to make waves with standout performances on and off the field. Nine Raiders were recently named to the SCFA National Northern All-League teams, celebrating their contributions during an impressive season.

First Team Honors
Jason Hawes, a freshman linebacker from Port Angeles High School in Washington, earned a coveted spot on the SCFA All-National Northern 1st Team, showcasing exceptional talent and dedication.

Several Raiders earned 2nd Team recognition:
